System Requirements

This page lists the recommended Windows system specs for optimal performance of Sign Wizard 7, assuming some large format printing usage. Neon and vinyl only users can use lesser specs.

CPU

For wide format printing, we recommend at least a 2Ghz Quad Core with at least 4GB RAM. Quad Core is also beneficial when using Dynamic Outline, Dynamic Shadow and Bevel, because those can be calculated in parallel and greatly improve the overall responsiveness—like going from a two lane highway to a four line highway. For just vinyl cutting, a 1Ghz CPU with 2GB RAM is sufficient, although Dynamic Outline and Dynamic Shadow—both vinyl ready features—are accelerated with a Dual Core or Quad Core system.

Operating System

Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit) only.

Note for Mac owners: The software does function properly under VMWare Fusion for the Mac when used with Intel Macs. With Fusion, Windows is run under a virtual machine and functions as if it was on a real Windows system. We do not recommend this with PowerPC Macs due to the substantial speed hit incurred. Intel Macs are able to execute natively most of the code on the CPU and the speed hit is relatively minor. The USB dongle is fully functional in this virtual environment.

RAM

4GB, depending on the size of prints and the size of the source images. 6GB or more is recommended when creating large prints, for example, for vehicle wraps.

Hard Drive

400MB required, 4GB free for RIP scratch space, layout files, etc.
